Thorn Alexander
Brooke is a multi-disciplinary artist and needlepoint designer with a bookish-outdoorsy disposition. Due to a nomadic upbringing and philomathic curiosity, she is particularly spellbound by global folklore, ecological colorscapes, and motifs of the natural world.
Although she has been an “artist” since she was caught coloring bumblebees on her walls as a toddler, she began needlepointing in 2014 after accidentally joining a hippie commune in the UK. She loves how needlepoint allows her to be creative on the go and provides collaborative opportunities with stitchers around the world. Stories of how stitchers have incorporated her work into their lives are her most valued touchstones.
Brooke’s classical training includes studies and residencies at St. Lawrence University, Rhode Island School of Design, and The University of Georgia’s Lamar Dodd Art School in Cortona, Italy. However, she is a lifelong learner and perpetually seeks to cultivate her craft.
Currently residing on Vancouver Island, Brooke can often be found with her nose in a book, gathering beta at the climbing wall, hunting for color along the mountainside, or taking her pup, Goose, for swimmies in the ocean.
